Yealink W73P – Installation & Quick Use Instructions (W70B Base Station + W73H Handset)

I. Installation and Assembly

The Yealink W73P DECT IP Phone package includes a W70B base station, W73H handset, battery, charging cradle, belt clip, base stand, Ethernet cable, and two power adapters .

A. Base Station Setup (W70B)

  1. Connect Power & Network (choose one method)
    • AC Power (Option a):
      Connect the Yealink 5V/0.6A power adapter.
      Using non-Yealink adapters may damage the base station.
    • PoE (Option b):
      Connect the Ethernet cable to an IEEE 802.3af PoE-compliant switch.
      If using PoE, the power adapter is not required.
  2. Mount the Base Station
    • Desktop Installation:
      Attach the base stand by aligning the snap-fits with the holes and pushing forward until they click .
    • Wall Mount:
      Mount directly to the wall (59 mm spacing indicated on diagrams) .

B. Handset Setup (W73H)

  1. Insert Battery:
    Slide open the back cover and insert the rechargeable battery into the handset .
  2. Attach Belt Clip:
    Snap the belt clip onto the back of the handset .
  3. Install and Connect Charging Cradle:
    • Optional: Wall-mount the cradle (38 mm spacing) .
    • Connect the Yealink 5V/0.6A power adapter.
      Third-party adapters may damage the handset.
    • Place the handset in the cradle.
      Check the charging icon on the top-right of the LCD screen.

II. Handset Buttons & Layout

The Quick Start Guide includes a full labeled diagram of the W73H handset (page 4), showing:

  • Soft keys
  • Navigation keys
  • OK key
  • Speakerphone key
  • Message key
  • Off-hook / On-hook / Power keys
  • Keypad
  • Transfer (TRAN) key
  • Mute key
  • LED indicator
  • Receiver
     

III. Registering the Handset

 

A. Easy Registration (Recommended)

  1. If the handset displays “Unregistered”, press and hold the Paging button on the W70B until the LED flashes.
  2. On the handset, press Register (or follow on-screen prompt).

B. Normal Registration

  1. On the handset: OK → Register Handset.
  2. Select the base station → OK.
  3. When the base is found, confirm with OK.
  4. Enter the default PIN: 0000Done.

When registration succeeds, the handset displays “Handset Subscribed” and the base number.


IV. Basic Handset Operations

A. Power & Basic Controls

  • Turn On:
    Place handset in charger or long-press the Power/On-hook key.
  • Turn Off:
    Long-press the Power/On-hook key.
  • Keypad Lock/Unlock:
    Long-press # when idle.
  • Silent Mode On/Off:
    Long-press # when idle.

(Same controls as W56H; verified across Yealink DECT models.)


V. Making and Managing Calls

A. Placing Calls

  1. Direct Dialing:
    Enter the number → press Off-hook, Speakerphone, or Headset key.
  2. Speed Dial:
    Long-press an assigned speed dial key.
  3. From Call History:
    Press History, select entry → dial using Off-hook/Speaker/Headset.

B. Answering / Ending Calls/Voicemail

  • Answer:
    Press Accept, Off-hook, or Speakerphone.
  • End:
    Press the End Call (On-hook) key.
  • Ignore/Reject:
    Press Silence or End Call.
    Check VM.
  • Dial *71 to check your voicemail.

C. In-Call Functions

  • Mute / Unmute: Press Mute.
  • Volume: Press ▲/▼ during call.
  • Hold: Options → Hold.
  • Resume / Swap:
    • If one on hold → Resume
    • If two on hold → Resume / Swap

D. Transferring Calls

1. Blind Transfer

  • Options → Transfer → enter number → Transfer

2. Semi-Attended

  • Options → Transfer → enter number → Off-hook/Speaker → Transfer (after ringback)

3. Attended

  • Options → Transfer → enter number → Off-hook/Speaker → announce → Transfer
